NaBloPoMo – #25 Oh, internetz

I reposted my Best Buy story on my 1UP blog and people went bonkers. It was even on Digg’s front page for a little while. Though the majority of my 1UP blog comments were positive, I was disheartened by the fact that the Digg comments were not only negative, but rather nasty. Apparently, I am a racist, I can’t spell, I’m fat, and I’m the new Michael Richards (the racist Richards, not the Stanley Spedowski Richards). Is Digg the web 2.0 version of forums now with the dramatic influx of trolls? I remember using Digg back in the day when it was virtually unknown. Now Digg has become an unstoppable force ever since it slipped into the mainstream, casual techie crowd. At the Revision 3 party a while ago, tech-girls were following and fawning over Kevin Rose as if he was Justin Timberlake. Tech-celebrity-worshipping is very surreal.

Anyways, I’m a little bummed that people are calling me a racist because I refered to myself and immigrant Asians as “FOBs” but oh well, it’s the internetz.

  • Oh bitterazngirl, I had to come and comment after reading your story through digg… Don’t sweat the Digg comments, they are mostly tolls and idiots.

I loved the story and glad you stood up for yourself and others. The multiple languages, just cracks me up. Forget whatever others may have said about racist or whatever – I still don’t see that. Good for standing up for yourself! I freaking hate the way people act and shop around Christmas.

Congrats on the camera! I’ve been watching for a DSLR myself. Take care and don’t stop keepin’ it reals!

  • Aw some people need to know their place. And you told the cuttergirl where her place was :at the END of the line!!! the arrogant cutters.

  • The internetz gives every moron with a keyboard the ability to act like an asshole. Don’t let it bother you and don’t let it stop you from writing about your adventures.

  • That darn internetz. :V At least you didn’t get in a fight with Cutter Girl.

  • Don’t be disheartened by them, being a UK-born chinese citizen, I can relate to what happened. No offence, but immigrant asians are the ones who think they, themselves have superiority and are above the overseas born asians.

The ‘cutter girl’ deserved to be slapped with a sense of reality.

Plus, the people at digg.com are riddled with silly children who dedicate themselves to trolling articles that are not funny to their fanboy needs.

  • Those digg users are probably not asian and dont understand how much we use the word fob to describe asians with poor english. While it’s kind of a mean thing to call someone it’s nothing really seriously offensive. Anyways props for pwning that fob! hahaha

  • Aw man, thanks for all the support duders!

  • Only Supermans opinion counts anyway.

  • screw diggs reactionary users. you fukin rule.
